Our Work

A selection of projects that helped clients secure planning approval and enhance design quality.

From compact infill schemes to large masterplans, our work demonstrates the value of clear, evidence-based environmental analysis..

Odeon Site Redevelopment , Leicester

We carried out a full daylight and sunlight assessment for this urban redevelopment, evaluating impacts on neighbouring properties and ensuring BRE-compliant performance. Our study also assessed the daylight quality within the proposed new homes to support a robust planning submission.

South Street, Deal, Kent

This tightly grained historic town centre already had a constrained daylight baseline, with narrow streets and close building lines. The replacement building maintained the established street enclosure and roofline, and when assessed using context-specific values, the resulting daylight levels were shown to be consistent with those typical of the street.

Peckham High Street, Fairfield, London

For this London scheme we worked closely with the design team to refine massing and internal layouts in response to daylight and sunlight constraints. Our BRE-based analysis demonstrated that the proposals achieved appropriate daylight performance, giving the local authority confidence to support the planning application.

Lansdown Hill Care Home, London

For this London care home project we undertook a suite of environmental studies, including energy performance modelling, overheating analysis, noise assessment and daylight review. Our findings informed the design development and demonstrated that the scheme met the relevant planning and performance requirements.

High Street, Maidenhead

The first-floor commercial space above a retail unit was proposed to be converted into flats, with an additional second floor added. We supported the planning application with a daylight and sunlight assessment, a sustainability statement, energy and overheating analysis using dynamic thermal modelling, and an air quality assessment, demonstrating that the proposed homes would deliver appropriate environmental performance.

Stoke Newington, London

For this scheme, the upper floors of a pub were converted to an HMO, with a planning application covering change of use and internal layout alterations. We supported the proposal with a daylight and sunlight assessment for the new residential rooms, alongside an air quality report, demonstrating that the accommodation would provide an acceptable internal environment.

Farringdon Road, London

We supported the planning application for a vertical extension of an outrigger to the rear of this terraced house in London. Both impact on neighbours and the amenity quality in the newly formed habitable spaces were analysed and reported on.

Crawley Office Conversion, London

We supported the conversion of this office building through a daylight assessment prepared for the prior approval process. Our analysis informed the internal layout and demonstrated that the proposed residential units would achieve appropriate daylight levels.

Charles Henri Street, Birmingham

For a tall residential building in a Birmingham regeneration area, we tested daylight performance against the masterplanned future context rather than the existing surroundings. By optimising the massing and internal layouts, placing the most daylight-sensitive rooms on the best elevations and using less sensitive uses in more constrained locations, we were able to minimise lower-performing units while supporting the wider regeneration objectives.

Duke Street, London

We advised on massing and internal layouts during the design development of this central London site. A full daylight and sunlight assessment was prepared to demonstrate compliance and support the planning application.

St Mary's Care Home, Nottingham

We supported a proposal for a new wing to an existing care home in Nottingham with a daylight and sunlight impact study. Our assessment demonstrated that the extension would maintain acceptable daylight conditions for neighbouring properties and residents, helping to support the planning application.

Eton Road, Nottingham

We supported a household extension project in Nottingham, providing daylight and sunlight analysis for a proposed two-storey wrap-around extension and associated single-storey rear addition. Our assessment reviewed the impact of the enlarged massing on neighbouring properties and demonstrated that the scheme would maintain acceptable levels of daylight in line with local planning expectations. This formed part of the evidence base supporting the planning submission.

Harefield Road, London

For this detached house we carried out a daylight and sunlight assessment and prepared a sustainability statement and energy statement, alongside a small sites Biodiversity Net Gain assessment. Together, these studies demonstrated that the proposal would achieve appropriate environmental performance across light, energy and ecology.

Hazeldene, Thatcham

A private client purchased a bungalow with the intention of demolishing it and building a new detached family home in a rural village setting. We advised on layout and massing to ensure that a nearby neighbouring window was not unduly affected in terms of daylight, helping to balance development potential with residential amenity.

Turners Hill, London

We assessed daylight and sunlight effects for the redevelopment of a former bank site, addressing both neighbouring property impacts and the amenity quality of the proposed residential units. Our report provided clear evidence to support the planning submission.

Union Street, London

A variation to an existing permission for a single house introduced a new basement bedroom. Working with the developer, we advised on a design solution that would ensure sufficient daylight penetration to the new room and maintain an acceptable standard of daylight amenity.
